Background:

INSPIRATION:
I am inspired by our people and their everyday lives. I love basing my subjects around people. We have so much to create art from that we are blessed. What fascinates me about human subjects is the challenge of recreating them while being expressive in capturing their personality. Every stroke, line, shape and form has a purpose. Having the ability to capture people's moments depicting their livelihood, and when your art piece is appreciated, is mind-blowing. It is an amazing feat.

EDUCATION:

I completed a Diploma in Graphic Design from the Faculty of Creative Arts in 1997; a certificate was attained after a foundation two-year program in 1995.

EXPERIENCE:
Straight after completing studies, I went into full time employment with the great Larry Santana. I hopped around different jobs until I joined KK Kingston as a Dektop Publisher in 2004. Currently I'm holding a managerial position in marketing.

I have enjoyed over 23 years of graphic design/communication and 10 years of marketing experience. I find real joy in pencil/graphite, so I consider myself a pencil/ graphite artist.

EXHIBITIONS/ ART SHOWS:
I entered a few shows like The Lioness Club in Lae and The Luksave Shows in Port Moresby over the years, but never entered any properly sanctioned art exhibitions. I am now planning a solo exhibition in the very near future. I see art evolving over the years in many more good ways than bad, although there are indications that are concerning with copyright.

Covetousness and survival, to a degree, have dampened art styles as those possessing this mindset are materializing art solely for the purpose of money-making. Never about the beauty and uniqueness of art. Artists also face the real challenge of marketing their craft. There are avenues, but they could be better.

We are slowly seeing many of our established and upcoming artists taking PNG art to the world stage, providing good exposure, marketing and awareness, and also transforming our art to greater heights. Our art is appreciated much more than it ever was in history, and credit must be given to both the past and the current crop of artists. The future looks bright for future artists.

Art is life. Live it well and one will reap a deserving harvest and a blessed life as an artist.
